Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for patients presenting with acute and chronic illnesses.
- Conduct detailed physical examinations and recommend appropriate laboratory investigations, diagnostic imaging, and specialized tests.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, medical guidelines, and patient needs.
- Perform approved medical and minor surgical procedures safely and professionally within the authorized scope of practice.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, trauma cases, and critical care situations while ensuring timely intervention.
- Admit, review, manage, and discharge patients according to established clinical protocols.
- Prescribe medications responsibly while monitoring effectiveness, potential interactions, and patient safety.
- Maintain complete, accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient medical records using approved documentation standards.
- Provide professional counselling to patients and family members regarding diagnosis, treatment options, disease prevention, recovery, and long-term health management.
- Participate actively in preventive healthcare campaigns, immunization programs, disease surveillance, and community outreach activities.
- Collaborate effectively with consultants, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, emergency services, and specialized medical programs as assigned.
- Support infection prevention and control measures by adhering to established safety procedures and clinical guidelines.
- Ensure appropriate utilization, safe handling, and accountability of medicines, medical equipment, and healthcare resources.
- Participate in disaster preparedness planning and emergency response activities whenever required.
- Contribute to quality assurance initiatives designed to improve patient safety and healthcare service delivery.
- Supervise, mentor, and guide medical interns, nursing students, and clinical officer trainees during clinical rotations.
- Participate in clinical meetings, departmental reviews, medical audits, and professional case discussions.
- Prepare accurate referral notes and collaborate with referral facilities to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Educate patients on healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, medication adherence, nutrition, and wellness practices.
- Support implementation of national healthcare policies, county health programs, and institutional clinical standards.
- Participate in continuous professional development activities to maintain competence and remain updated with evolving medical practices.
- Promote ethical conduct, professionalism, patient dignity, confidentiality, and respect in every healthcare interaction.
- Prepare statutory medical reports, clinical summaries, and other official healthcare documentation when required.
- Undertake any additional medical responsibilities assigned by authorized supervisors in support of healthcare service delivery objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognized institution accredited by the relevant authorities.
- Successful completion of a one
- year medical internship at a recognized healthcare institution.
- Valid registration certificate issued by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Current practicing license issued by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized training institution.
