Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medicines accurately while ensuring compliance with professional pharmacy standards and internal operating procedures.
- Verify prescription details for completeness, accuracy, dosage appropriateness, and possible medication interactions before dispensing.
- Maintain appropriate storage conditions for pharmaceutical products to preserve quality, safety, and effectiveness.
- Monitor stock levels regularly and coordinate timely replenishment of medicines and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Conduct routine inventory reconciliation and assist with effective stock control initiatives.
- Participate in medicine procurement processes following organizational procurement guidelines.
- Maintain accurate pharmaceutical records using electronic Health Management Information Systems.
- Support pharmacists during clinical pharmacy activities and medication management programs.
- Educate patients on medication dosage, administration schedules, storage requirements, and possible side effects.
- Respond professionally to patient inquiries regarding pharmaceutical products and medication usage.
- Ensure compliance with Pharmacy and Poisons Board regulations and institutional policies.
- Identify expired, damaged, or obsolete medicines and coordinate safe disposal according to regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives aimed at strengthening pharmaceutical services.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization within the pharmacy department.
- Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist in preparing pharmaceutical reports, stock utilization summaries, and departmental documentation.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and ethical standards throughout all pharmaceutical activities.
- Support implementation of medication safety protocols and risk reduction initiatives.
- Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and mandatory training programs.
- Perform additional pharmacy-related responsibilities assigned by pharmacy leadership in support of quality healthcare delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree in Pharmacy or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology.
- Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- Valid annual practicing license.
- Sound understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and professional ethics.
- Strong commitment to patient safety and quality healthcare delivery.
