Responsibilities for ENT Surgeon-Rhinology Anterior Skull Base in Kenya

• Diagnose and manage complex rhinologic and anterior skull base diseases including chronic rhinosinusitis, sinonasal tumours, and inflammatory sinus disorders.
• Perform advanced endoscopic sinus surgery and skull base procedures within credentialed surgical scope.
• Manage cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks using endoscopic repair techniques and reconstructive approaches.
• Conduct detailed nasal endoscopic examinations for diagnostic and follow-up purposes.
• Interpret high-resolution imaging including CT, MRI, and navigation-guided surgical planning scans.
• Develop individualized surgical and medical treatment plans for rhinology and skull base conditions.
• Collaborate closely with neurosurgery teams in combined skull base procedures and tumour resections.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with oncology, radiology, anaesthesia, and critical care specialists.
• Establish and implement protocols for image-guided surgery and intraoperative navigation systems.
• Manage intraoperative and postoperative bleeding control and haemostasis strategies.
• Provide outpatient consultations and inpatient care for complex rhinological cases.
• Manage emergency ENT cases including complications arising from sinus and skull base surgery.
• Participate in tumour boards for sinonasal and skull base malignancies.
• Perform biopsy and diagnostic sampling of nasal and skull base lesions.
• Provide reconstructive planning for skull base defects and post-surgical defects.
• Monitor post-operative recovery and manage complications such as infection, CSF leaks, or recurrence.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in compliance with clinical governance standards.
• Ensure adherence to infection prevention and surgical safety protocols.
• Supervise, mentor, and train ENT residents, fellows, and medical officers in advanced rhinology techniques.
• Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and surgical outcome evaluations.
• Lead and contribute to research projects in rhinology and skull base surgery.
• Publish scientific findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Develop and update clinical guidelines and institutional protocols for rhinology services.
• Participate in continuous medical education (CME) and advanced surgical training programs.
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies in endoscopic skull base surgery and navigation systems.
• Support procurement and evaluation of advanced ENT surgical equipment.
• Ensure patient safety through risk assessment and surgical checklists.
