- The Paediatric ENT Surgeon will conduct thorough and systematic clinical assessments, including detailed patient history-taking, comprehensive physical examinations, and the use of advanced diagnostic modalities. These include audiological evaluations, radiological imaging such as CT and MRI scans, and endoscopic procedures such as nasoendoscopy, laryngoscopy, and bronchoscopy. The specialist will interpret these findings with a high level of clinical expertise to establish accurate diagnoses and formulate individualized treatment plans that are tailored to the child’s age, developmental stage, underlying condition, and family context.
- A key component of this role involves performing a broad range of paediatric ENT surgical procedures within the practitioner’s credentialed scope. These include airway surgeries such as tracheostomy and airway reconstruction, otologic procedures such as tympanoplasty, mastoidectomy, and support for cochlear implantation, as well as endoscopic sinus and airway surgeries. The surgeon will be expected to ensure optimal peri-operative care by adhering to established clinical pathways, maintaining strict infection prevention and control standards, and implementing patient safety protocols at all stages of care—from pre-operative assessment to post-operative follow-up and rehabilitation.
- The role requires close and continuous collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), including anaesthesiologists, paediatricians, neonatologists, maxillofacial surgeons, speech and language therapists, audiologists, nutritionists, and critical care specialists. This collaborative approach is essential for managing complex and high-risk cases such as craniofacial abnormalities, airway compromise, feeding and swallowing disorders, and children with multiple comorbidities.
