Job Description

The County Government of Kericho is seeking committed, disciplined, and service-oriented individuals to join its enforcement team as County Enforcement Officers on a contract basis. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who are passionate about public service, community safety, protection of county assets, and maintaining law and order within public spaces. Successful candidates will become part of a professional team responsible for supporting county operations by ensuring compliance with county legislation, safeguarding public facilities, promoting orderly business activities, and contributing to a secure environment for residents, visitors, and investors. The County Enforcement Officer plays a vital role in supporting county administration through visible patrols, enforcement of county regulations, public engagement, and protection of government infrastructure. The position requires individuals who demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, physical fitness, and the ability to work effectively under varying operational conditions. Officers will perform their duties across markets, parking facilities, public offices, business centers, transport terminals, recreational areas, and other designated county locations where enforcement and security services are required. The successful candidates will be expected to uphold professionalism while interacting respectfully with members of the public, business owners, county staff, and visitors. They will assist in maintaining peaceful environments, preventing unlawful activities, reporting incidents promptly, and supporting emergency response efforts whenever required. County Enforcement Officers will also contribute to improving compliance with county by-laws through education, observation, and lawful enforcement measures that promote accountability and public confidence. Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce County Government by-laws, regulations, policies, and other applicable legislation professionally and fairly.
  • Conduct regular patrols within assigned parking areas to promote orderly vehicle movement and compliance with parking regulations.
  • Monitor public spaces to discourage unlawful activities and promote a safe environment.
  • Respond promptly to safety incidents, emergencies, enforcement requests, and operational alerts.
  • Verify identification documents for employees, contractors, visitors, and authorized personnel accessing county facilities.
  • Maintain security and order within county markets, trading centres, and other designated commercial areas.
  • Protect County Government buildings, offices, equipment, installations, and other public assets from damage or unauthorized access.
  • Control crowds during official events, public gatherings, and emergency situations using lawful procedures.
  • Observe activities within assigned areas and report suspicious behaviour, security concerns, or violations promptly.
  • Prepare accurate daily occurrence reports, patrol reports, and incident documentation.
  • Assist in implementing traffic control measures during county events and road management activities.
  • Promote compliance with county regulations through courteous engagement with members of the public.
  • Support emergency response teams whenever required during accidents, disasters, or other incidents.
  • Work closely with supervisors to implement operational plans effectively.
  • Assist in safeguarding public facilities against vandalism, theft, or misuse.
  • Monitor business premises to ensure compliance with relevant county regulations.
  • Provide information and directions to members of the public visiting county facilities.
  • Report damaged infrastructure, public hazards, or maintenance concerns requiring immediate attention.
  • Exercise professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity while performing official duties.
  • Maintain vigilance throughout assigned patrol shifts.
  • Participate in scheduled inspections of county premises and facilities.
  • Assist in resolving minor public disputes using appropriate communication skills.
  • Ensure orderly parking operations within designated county parking zones.
  • Cooperate with relevant security agencies during joint operations whenever authorized.
  • Attend departmental briefings, operational meetings, and mandatory training sessions.
  • Maintain operational equipment responsibly and report faults immediately.
  • Follow occupational health and safety procedures during all assignments.
  • Promote positive public relations through respectful interactions with residents and stakeholders.
  • Collect relevant operational information and submit timely reports to supervisors.
  • Perform assigned duties with impartiality while observing applicable laws and regulations.
  • Carry out any other lawful duties assigned by the immediate supervisor in support of County Government operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Applicants must possess a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) or an equivalent recognized qualification. Candidates must hold a valid Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the National Police Service and must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application. Applicants should be physically fit and capable of performing duties that require prolonged standing, walking, outdoor patrols, and emergency response activities. Excellent personal discipline, honesty, integrity, reliability, and a strong commitment to public service are essential attributes for this position. Good communication skills, sound interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to interact professionally with members of the public are highly desirable.   • solving ability, emotional maturity, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Basic report writing skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately are important for successful performance. National Youth Service (NYS) training, paramilitary training, or other recognized security
  • related training will be considered an added advantage. Similarly, applicants with at least five years of relevant enforcement or security experience will receive additional consideration.
