Job Description

The Ministry of Interior and National Administration, through the State Department for Correctional Services, is inviting qualified, disciplined, and service-oriented individuals to apply for the position of Security Warden II (CSG 15 / Job Group 'E'). This recruitment seeks to fill Twenty-Five (25) permanent and pensionable vacancies across designated government stations in Kenya. The successful candidates will become part of a dedicated security workforce responsible for protecting public facilities, supporting government operations, and maintaining a safe environment for employees, visitors, and public assets. Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned government compounds, administrative offices, institutional facilities, and surrounding areas according to approved security schedules.
  • Monitor entry and exit points to ensure only authorized persons, vehicles, and deliveries access protected premises.
  • Verify visitor identities, employee credentials, and vehicle authorization before granting entry.
  • Prevent unauthorized access through consistent enforcement of established security procedures.
  • Observe daily activities within assigned workstations and promptly identify suspicious behavior or unusual occurrences.
  • Maintain constant vigilance while conducting foot patrols and stationary security assignments.
  • Protect government buildings, installations, equipment, vehicles, records, and other public assets from theft, vandalism, or unauthorized interference.
  • Record visitor movements, deliveries, incidents, and security observations accurately in official occurrence books and registers.
  • Report security breaches, emergencies, accidents, or suspicious incidents immediately to supervising officers.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to security alarms, emergencies, and requests for assistance.
  • Assist in crowd management during official functions, public events, and emergency situations where required.
  • Conduct routine inspections of gates, fences, locks, lighting systems, and other security infrastructure.
  • Support implementation of workplace safety procedures and emergency evacuation plans.
  • Monitor vehicle movements entering and leaving government premises while maintaining proper documentation.
  • Enforce security regulations fairly, respectfully, and consistently without discrimination.
  • Safeguard confidential information encountered during the execution of assigned duties.
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisors regarding operational matters and emerging security concerns.
  • Cooperate with other government security personnel and law enforcement agencies whenever necessary.
  • Exercise professionalism, courtesy, and integrity when dealing with staff members, visitors, contractors, and the public.
  • Remain alert throughout assigned shifts and avoid conduct that may compromise security operations.
  • Ensure security equipment issued for official duties is handled responsibly and maintained in serviceable condition.
  • Participate in routine security briefings, inspections, and operational meetings.
  • Assist during investigations by providing factual observations and accurate reports.
  • Observe occupational health and safety standards while carrying out daily assignments.
  • Perform access control duties during both routine operations and special events.
  • Support emergency response activities during fire incidents, medical emergencies, or security threats.
  • Identify potential security risks and recommend preventive measures through established reporting channels.
  • Preserve professionalism, discipline, and confidentiality while representing the Ministry.
  • Follow lawful instructions issued by supervising officers and comply with government regulations.
  • Perform any other security-related responsibilities assigned within the scope of the position.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum mean grade of D+ (Plus) or an equivalent qualification recognized in Kenya.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the Kenya Police Service.
  • Must be below thirty
  • six (36) years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Must be physically fit and mentally sound to undertake security responsibilities.
  • Must satisfy all applicable government recruitment requirements.
  • Demonstrated integrity, discipline, and commitment to public service will be an added advantage.
