Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily classroom teaching using learner-centered and age-appropriate instructional approaches.
- Plan and deliver engaging learning experiences that promote holistic child development.
- Prepare comprehensive schemes of work, lesson plans, and daily activity schedules.
- Develop creative play-based learning activities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and independent thinking.
- Prepare attractive and relevant learning resources that support effective classroom instruction.
- Assess learners continuously using approved assessment methods and maintain accurate progress records.
- Prepare learner performance reports and communicate progress to parents and school management.
- Promote positive discipline through guidance, counselling, mentoring, and positive reinforcement.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, responsibility, and respect.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and child-friendly classroom environment.
- Ensure the safety, welfare, health, and security of all learners throughout the school day.
- Identify learners requiring additional educational support and recommend suitable interventions.
- Encourage inclusion by supporting learners from diverse backgrounds and varying learning abilities.
- Foster creativity through music, storytelling, art, games, outdoor activities, and practical learning experiences.
- Supervise classroom activities, indoor learning sessions, and outdoor educational play.
- Maintain attendance registers and other professional educational records accurately.
- Participate actively in school meetings, teacher development programs, and educational workshops.
- Collaborate with head teachers, fellow educators, parents, guardians, and education officers.
- Promote good nutrition, hygiene, sanitation, and healthy living habits among learners.
- Support implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) within ECDE programs.
- Encourage teamwork, cooperation, respect, and responsible behaviorS among children.
- Monitor classroom resources and recommend replacement or improvement where necessary.
- Observe children's emotional, social, physical, and academic development and provide appropriate guidance.
- Participate in school co-curricular and community education activities whenever required.
- Uphold confidentiality regarding learner information and school operations.
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education regulations and county education policies.
- Prepare professional documentation required for audits, inspections, and administrative reviews.
- Promote environmental conservation through child-friendly educational activities.
- Maintain productive relationships with parents to strengthen learner development.
- Perform any additional education-related duties assigned by the Head Teacher or authorized County Education officials.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Applicants should possess a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of D+ (Plus) or Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) Division IV or its recognized equivalent. Candidates must hold a Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education obtained from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), the Ministry of Education, or another recognized institution approved by the relevant authorities. Registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is mandatory. Applicants should also possess a valid Certificate in Computer Applications demonstrating competence in basic computer operations and educational record management. A valid Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the National Police Service is required together with a valid medical fitness report obtained from a registered government health facility. Candidates must provide a recommendation letter from the Head Teacher of their respective school where applicable.
