Job Description
We are seeking two Clinical Officers to join our medical team in Kiambu County. The successful candidates will support the delivery of frontline clinical services by assessing patients, identifying medical conditions, initiating treatment plans, and monitoring recovery outcomes across outpatient and general care services.
The position involves conducting comprehensive patient evaluations, documenting clinical findings, requesting appropriate investigations, interpreting laboratory results, prescribing treatment within the scope of practice, and ensuring continuity of care through follow-up consultations. The Clinical Officers will collaborate with nursing staff, laboratory professionals, pharmacy teams, and other healthcare practitioners to support efficient patient management and timely service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient consultations, clinical assessments, and physical examinations to determine appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Evaluate patient symptoms, medical histories, and diagnostic findings to support effective clinical decision-making.
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions in accordance with established clinical guidelines and best practices.
- Prescribe medications, therapies, and other interventions within the approved scope of clinical practice.
- Monitor patient progress during treatment and make necessary adjustments to care plans to support positive health outcomes.
- Provide timely medical attention to patients presenting with urgent or emergency conditions and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Manage outpatient services efficiently while ensuring patients receive professional, compassionate, and high-quality care.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records in line with regulatory and facility requirements.
- Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, medication adherence, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Support the prevention, early detection, and ongoing management of non-communicable diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions.
- Request and interpret laboratory investigations and other diagnostic tests to assist in patient management.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, pharmacists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated service delivery.
- Participate in routine ward reviews, follow-up consultations, and patient monitoring activities where applicable.
- Promote compliance with infection prevention and control measures to maintain a safe healthcare environment.
- Support maternal health, child health, immunization, and other preventive healthcare programs implemented by the facility.
- Identify patients requiring specialist intervention and facilitate timely referrals when necessary.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and patient safety programs aimed at enhancing healthcare standards.
- Participate in community health education activities and outreach programs that promote disease prevention and health awareness.
- Ensure compliance with Clinical Officers Council requirements, healthcare regulations, and professional ethical standards.
- Assist in the implementation of clinical protocols, operational procedures, and healthcare service improvement initiatives.
- Foster positive relationships with patients, colleagues, and stakeholders through professionalism, respect, and effective communication.
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and support life-saving interventions when required.
- Contribute to departmental reporting, performance monitoring, and healthcare data management activities.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Must be registered with the Clinical Officers Council (COC) and possess a valid practicing license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) will be an added advantage.
- Sound understanding of clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management practices.
- Good knowledge of medical ethics, patient confidentiality requirements, and professional healthcare standards.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations, clinical protocols, and quality improvement processes.
- Understanding of preventive healthcare approaches and the management of common communicable and non
