Key Responsibilities
- Deliver competency-based training in Tourism Management programmes using learner-centered instructional methods that encourage practical understanding, critical thinking, teamwork, and professional development.
- Prepare detailed lesson plans, schemes of work, training schedules, assessment instruments, and instructional materials that fully align with approved CBET curriculum requirements.
- Design engaging classroom activities, practical demonstrations, simulations, case studies, and project-based learning experiences that strengthen learner competence.
- Evaluate learner performance through continuous assessments, practical examinations, assignments, presentations, and competency evaluations while maintaining fairness and consistency.
- Maintain accurate academic records, attendance registers, assessment documentation, learner progress reports, and institutional teaching records within established timelines.
- Supervise educational tours, field visits, practical training sessions, industry exposure activities, and student industrial attachments to ensure meaningful experiential learning.
- Guide learners in developing destination management plans, tourism business concepts, travel itineraries, customer service techniques, and sustainable tourism solutions.
- Integrate emerging tourism trends, digital booking platforms, travel technologies, destination marketing strategies, and responsible tourism practices into daily instruction.
- Provide academic mentoring, career guidance, professional coaching, and individualized learner support that promotes academic achievement and workplace readiness.
- Identify learners requiring additional academic support and implement appropriate interventions that improve competence and overall performance.
- Participate in curriculum review exercises aimed at strengthening programme relevance, quality, innovation, and alignment with labour market demands.
- Collaborate with fellow trainers to develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities that enrich student experiences and strengthen institutional programmes.
- Build productive relationships with tourism stakeholders, employers, government agencies, hotels, tour operators, travel companies, and destination organizations to expand learning opportunities.
- Support institutional marketing initiatives by participating in career exhibitions, education fairs, open days, school outreach programmes, and recruitment campaigns.
- Promote ethical conduct, environmental conservation, cultural appreciation, diversity, professionalism, and responsible tourism practices throughout all learning activities.
- Ensure effective utilization, maintenance, and proper management of tourism training resources, instructional equipment, learning materials, and practical facilities.
- Participate actively in quality assurance initiatives, internal audits, institutional meetings, staff development programmes, and continuous improvement activities.
- Remain informed about national education policies, tourism regulations, technological developments, and evolving industry practices to continuously improve instructional quality.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, respectful, and motivating learning environment that encourages participation, innovation, confidence, and lifelong learning among all students.
- Perform other academic and institutional responsibilities reasonably assigned by management in support of the institute's strategic objectives and educational excellence.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Management.
- Bachelor's Degree in Tourism and Travel Management.
- Bachelor's Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management or another closely related discipline.
- TVET Trainer Qualification (TVETA Trainer Certificate) will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated understanding of Competency
- Based Education and Training (CBET).
- Strong commitment to academic excellence and learner success.
