Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality lectures in maritime transport, shipping operations, logistics management, and related academic units.
- Prepare comprehensive lesson plans that align with approved curriculum requirements and institutional learning outcomes.
- Facilitate practical learning sessions using case studies, simulations, demonstrations, and industry-based scenarios.
- Guide students in understanding cargo operations, multimodal transport systems, freight documentation, and maritime supply chains.
- Teach principles of port operations, vessel scheduling, maritime safety, and international shipping practices.
- Develop assessment tools including assignments, quizzes, practical exercises, projects, and examinations.
- Evaluate student performance fairly and provide detailed academic feedback that supports continuous improvement.
- Mentor learners by offering academic guidance, career advice, and professional development support.
- Encourage critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, and ethical decision-making within maritime operations.
- Integrate current industry developments, digital logistics technologies, and emerging maritime innovations into classroom delivery.
- Maintain accurate attendance registers, assessment records, grading reports, and learner progress documentation.
- Support curriculum review initiatives by recommending updates that reflect changing industry requirements.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training workshops, academic planning sessions, and quality assurance activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching strategies and enhance learner engagement.
- Promote compliance with institutional academic policies, examination regulations, and professional standards.
- Ensure classroom, laboratory, and simulation activities are conducted safely and responsibly.
- Encourage teamwork, professionalism, discipline, and effective communication among trainees.
- Assist students preparing for professional certifications, industrial attachments, and workplace readiness.
- Build positive relationships with maritime industry partners to strengthen practical learning opportunities.
- Recommend instructional resources, learning technologies, and reference materials that improve educational quality.
- Participate in continuous professional development to remain current with international maritime trends.
- Promote research, innovation, and practical application of maritime transport and logistics concepts.
- Support institutional initiatives aimed at strengthening maritime education and professional competency.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that respects diversity and equal participation.
- Perform additional academic responsibilities assigned by the Academy leadership consistent with the objectives of the Centre for Professional Development Services.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Transport and Logistics or another closely related discipline from a recognized university.
- Master's degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated sea service experience is highly desirable.
- Previous teaching, lecturing, facilitation, or professional training experience in a maritime institution is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of maritime transport systems, logistics operations, shipping management, and port administration.
- Knowledge of international maritime regulations and professional industry standards.
- Excellent classroom management and learner engagement skills.
- Ability to prepare effective instructional materials and practical learning activities.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
- High level of professional integrity and ethical conduct.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications and digital learning platforms.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to mentor learners from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
