Key Responsibilities
- Deliver competency-based instruction in hospitality accounting, financial management, bookkeeping, budgeting, business finance, and hospitality cost control.
- Prepare comprehensive lesson plans that align with approved curriculum requirements and learning outcomes.
- Develop schemes of work that support structured learning throughout each academic term.
- Design practical classroom activities that strengthen learner understanding through real hospitality business scenarios.
- Prepare high-quality teaching resources, presentations, practical exercises, and learner reference materials.
- Facilitate engaging classroom discussions that encourage active participation and collaborative learning.
- Conduct continuous assessments using diverse evaluation methods that accurately measure learner competence.
- Prepare examination papers, marking guides, grading records, and assessment reports within institutional timelines.
- Maintain accurate academic records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with institutional policies.
- Guide students in applying accounting principles to hotel, restaurant, catering, tourism, and accommodation operations.
- Demonstrate practical financial reporting techniques using hospitality industry case studies.
- Introduce learners to computerized accounting systems and digital financial management applications.
- Integrate Microsoft Office applications into classroom instruction to enhance learning effectiveness.
- Promote ethical financial management practices and professional accountability among learners.
- Identify individual learning needs and provide academic support where necessary.
- Mentor students on career development, workplace expectations, and professional growth opportunities.
- Supervise industrial attachment programmes and monitor learner performance during workplace training.
- Participate in curriculum review initiatives aimed at strengthening programme quality and industry relevance.
- Support institutional quality assurance activities through continuous academic improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with fellow trainers to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Participate in departmental meetings, workshops, seminars, and professional development activities.
- Encourage innovation, creativity, and analytical thinking within classroom learning environments.
- Monitor learner attendance, participation, academic progress, and overall classroom performance.
- Ensure learning environments remain inclusive, respectful, safe, and supportive for every student.
- Promote institutional values, academic integrity, and professional conduct throughout all teaching activities.
- Assist with student recruitment activities including career exhibitions, open days, and institutional outreach programmes.
- Provide academic advising to prospective and continuing students.
- Contribute to institutional reporting requirements and academic documentation.
- Remain informed about emerging hospitality finance trends, accounting standards, and educational best practices.
- Perform additional academic responsibilities reasonably assigned in support of institutional objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting or Finance Option), Hospitality Management, or another closely related discipline.
- Professional accounting certification such as CPA (K), ACCA, or an equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
- TVETA Trainer Certificate or an equivalent trainer qualification is desirable.
- Demonstrated understanding of hospitality accounting principles and financial management practices.
- Knowledge of hospitality cost control procedures and financial reporting processes.
- Ability to deliver competency
