Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive ICT lessons using practical demonstrations, structured learning materials, and interactive teaching methods that support different learning abilities.
- Prepare detailed lesson plans, instructional resources, practical assignments, and assessments aligned with institutional learning objectives.
- Conduct computer laboratory sessions while ensuring students safely and effectively use available ICT resources.
- Evaluate student performance through continuous assessments, practical examinations, projects, and constructive academic feedback.
- Mentor students by providing technical guidance, career advice, and support for independent technology projects.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, projectors, and other ICT equipment.
- Diagnose hardware failures, software issues, connectivity problems, and operating system errors while providing timely resolutions.
- Maintain computer laboratories to ensure all equipment remains functional, organized, and available for scheduled classes.
- Support installation, configuration, licensing, and maintenance of educational software applications required for teaching activities.
- Assist in managing local area networks, internet connectivity, wireless access points, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Monitor system performance and recommend preventive maintenance activities that reduce equipment downtime.
- Perform regular operating system updates, software upgrades, and security patch installations.
- Maintain reliable antivirus protection and implement appropriate cybersecurity best practices throughout institutional systems.
- Assist with user account creation, password management, access permissions, and user authentication processes.
- Carry out scheduled system backups and verify successful recovery procedures to safeguard institutional information.
- Maintain accurate ICT asset registers, equipment inventories, warranty records, maintenance logs, and service documentation.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance with approved technology suppliers whenever specialized technical support is required.
- Provide courteous first-line technical support to students, lecturers, administrative staff, and institutional management.
- Support online learning platforms, digital classrooms, multimedia presentations, and virtual learning technologies.
- Assist departments during examinations requiring computer-based testing or digital assessment platforms.
- Recommend technology improvements that enhance learning effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Ensure ICT laboratories comply with institutional safety standards and equipment handling procedures.
- Monitor proper utilization of institutional ICT resources and encourage responsible technology usage.
- Participate in institutional meetings, departmental planning sessions, and quality improvement initiatives related to ICT services.
- Keep current with emerging technologies, educational software, cybersecurity developments, and evolving digital learning practices through continuous professional development.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or another closely related discipline.
- Professional ICT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, Microsoft, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
