Responsibilities for RELATIONSHIP MANAGER CORPORATE BANKING in Kenya
- The Relationship Manager – Corporate Banking is responsible for managing and growing the bank’s corporate client portfolio while ensuring exceptional service delivery and operational excellence. The key responsibilities include:
- Maximizing Account Profitability: Promote and sell a broad range of banking products and services to corporate clients to increase account profitability. Identify cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts, including treasury solutions, trade finance, FX services, and digital banking offerings.
- Collections and Credit Management. Drive timely collections on customer accounts, ensuring funds are available for foreign exchange transactions and other banking activities. Initiate and carry out recovery actions on non-performing credit facilities while minimizing risk exposure to the bank.
- Client Relationship Development: Identify, develop, and maintain strong relationships with conglomerates and large corporate clients. Act as a trusted advisor, understanding client business needs and recommending appropriate financial solutions.
- Credit Documentation and Compliance: Ensure proper and timely documentation throughout the credit application, approval, and disbursement process. Monitor customer tenured investments and facilities, ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
- Customer Service Excellence: Respond promptly and satisfactorily to customer requests, inquiries, and complaints. Maintain regular monitoring of customer main accounts, reconciling transactions where necessary. Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date database of operational records for existing and prospective clients.
- Reporting and Performance Monitoring: Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports, providing management with insights into account activity, sales, collections, and risk exposure. Track key performance indicators for corporate accounts and recommend strategies to enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
- Additional Duties: Collaborate with internal teams including credit, operations, treasury, and trade finance to deliver seamless service to clients. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Corporate Banking, supporting the bank’s overall business objectives.
- Through these responsibilities, the Relationship Manager ensures that UBA Kenya / USA operations deliver superior corporate banking services, strengthens client relationships, drives revenue growth, and maintains high standards of compliance and operational excellence across the corporate banking portfolio.
