Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized audiology clinical services by conducting comprehensive hearing assessments for patients across various age groups using approved clinical procedures and diagnostic equipment.
- Perform detailed patient evaluations, obtain complete medical histories, interpret clinical findings, and recommend appropriate treatment or rehabilitation plans.
- Manage hearing disorders through evidence-based interventions while ensuring individualized patient-centered healthcare services.
- Support specialized oncology and other referral units by providing audiological assessment and hearing monitoring where clinically required.
- Educate patients, caregivers, families, schools, and community members on hearing health, hearing loss prevention, ear protection, and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Conduct hearing screening programs for targeted populations in accordance with departmental healthcare priorities.
- Provide counseling to patients and families regarding diagnosis, hearing rehabilitation options, assistive hearing technologies, and long-term hearing management.
- Recommend suitable referrals to Ear, Nose and Throat specialists, speech therapists, rehabilitation professionals, or other medical specialists whenever necessary.
- Participate in multidisciplinary patient management meetings to improve treatment coordination and clinical outcomes.
- Monitor patient progress through scheduled follow-up assessments and update treatment plans based on clinical improvement.
- Maintain accurate patient records, clinical reports, referral documentation, and electronic health information in accordance with applicable healthcare regulations.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information while observing professional ethics and legal requirements governing healthcare practice.
- Participate in hospital ward rounds, specialist consultations, and integrated clinical review sessions whenever required.
- Mentor students on clinical attachment by providing practical guidance, professional supervision, and constructive learning experiences.
- Support orientation and capacity building for junior clinical staff through coaching, demonstrations, and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance initiatives, clinical audits, and healthcare improvement projects aimed at enhancing service delivery.
- Promote infection prevention and control measures throughout all clinical procedures.
- Ensure proper handling, maintenance, calibration, and reporting of audiology equipment to guarantee reliable diagnostic services.
- Participate in emergency response activities whenever specialized audiology expertise is required.
- Prepare timely departmental reports, statistics, service utilization data, and performance updates for management review.
- Collaborate with county health programs during outreach services, public health campaigns, and preventive healthcare initiatives.
- Comply with Clinical Officers' Council regulations, Ministry of Health guidelines, county government policies, and institutional procedures.
- Maintain continuous professional development by participating in accredited medical education and professional training.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, integrity, respect, compassion, teamwork, and excellent customer service during all patient interactions.
- Perform any other lawful responsibilities assigned by departmental supervisors in support of efficient healthcare service delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Higher National Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery (Audiology) from a recognized institution.
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
- Valid Practicing License issued by the Clinical Officers' Council.
- Registration Certificate from the Clinical Officers' Council.
- Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical clinical practice.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
