Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the Project Management Department in alignment with organizational objectives and long-term corporate priorities.
- Translate corporate strategic plans into practical departmental initiatives and measurable operational outcomes.
- Coordinate the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion of multiple infrastructure and engineering projects.
- Develop comprehensive project implementation frameworks that promote efficiency, accountability, and timely delivery.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams while fostering collaboration across technical and support departments.
- Coordinate internal project activities to ensure seamless communication between engineering, finance, procurement, legal, environmental, and operational units.
- Build productive working relationships with government agencies, development partners, consultants, contractors, financiers, and regulatory institutions.
- Prepare high-quality project progress reports for executive management and external stakeholders.
- Establish robust project monitoring and evaluation systems that measure performance, quality, cost, timelines, and project impact.
- Identify project risks early and implement practical mitigation strategies to minimize operational disruptions.
- Ensure projects comply with organizational policies, engineering standards, statutory requirements, contractual obligations, and industry best practices.
- Develop realistic project schedules, implementation timelines, milestones, and resource allocation plans.
- Oversee contract administration activities throughout project lifecycles, including performance monitoring and compliance management.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, technical records, manuals, reports, and implementation databases.
- Supervise departmental performance management processes through clearly defined targets and work plans.
- Prepare, implement, and monitor departmental budgets while ensuring prudent utilization of organizational resources.
- Coordinate procurement planning to support efficient project implementation.
- Promote continuous improvement through process optimization and adoption of modern project management methodologies.
- Support organizational change initiatives that improve project governance and operational performance.
- Mentor technical staff by promoting professional development, knowledge sharing, succession planning, and high-performance culture.
- Facilitate effective stakeholder engagement through transparent communication and timely reporting.
- Ensure occupational health, safety, environmental sustainability, and quality assurance principles are integrated throughout project implementation.
- Resolve project implementation challenges through sound technical judgment and collaborative decision-making.
- Evaluate project outcomes and recommend improvements that strengthen future organizational performance.
- Represent the department during strategic meetings, technical reviews, and external engagements whenever required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Master's Degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mining Engineering, Energy Engineering, Geothermal Engineering, Drilling Technology, or another closely related engineering field from a recognized institution.
- Registered Professional with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB), or an equivalent recognized professional body.
- Management course lasting at least four (4) cumulative weeks from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications and modern project management software.
- Compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
