Responsibilities for Sacco Information Systems Administrator in Kenya

• The Information Systems Administrator will be tasked with a wide range of technical and operational responsibilities aimed at ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and security of the Sacco’s IT environment.
• A key responsibility will be overseeing the Sacco’s Core Banking System (CBS), ensuring that it operates smoothly, securely, and efficiently at all times. This includes system configuration, regular updates, performance tuning, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
• The role involves managing and maintaining the organization’s ICT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and communication systems. The administrator will ensure that all hardware and software components are functioning optimally and that system backups are conducted regularly and securely stored.
• Cybersecurity is a critical aspect of this role. The administrator will implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive member data and financial transactions. This includes firewall management, intrusion detection, vulnerability assessments, and enforcing data protection policies.
• The successful candidate will provide timely technical support to staff, resolving IT-related issues efficiently to minimize disruptions to operations. They will also be responsible for managing user accounts, access rights, and ensuring compliance with data security standards.
• Another key duty involves monitoring system performance and identifying areas for improvement to ensure minimal downtime. The administrator will proactively address potential issues before they impact system availability.
• The role also requires coordination with external vendors for system maintenance, upgrades, and support services. This includes ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met and that all integrations with third-party systems such as mobile banking platforms, ATM switches, CRBs, and EFT systems are functioning effectively.
• The administrator will also be responsible for data processing and generating reports required by SASRA, as well as internal departmental and organizational dashboards. They will ensure data accuracy and timely reporting.
• Business continuity and disaster recovery planning are also key responsibilities. The candidate will develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure the organization can quickly recover from system failures or data loss incidents.
