Responsibilities for Driver II – Grade 3/4 in Kenya

• Safely operate assigned vehicles, including cars, buses, lorries, and tractors, in accordance with traffic regulations and University transport policies.
• Plan and execute daily routes to ensure timely transportation of staff, students, and goods across the University campuses and designated external locations.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks, including monitoring fuel levels, tire condition, engine performance, and ensuring vehicles are clean and roadworthy.
• Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or damages promptly to the Transport Department and ensure proper documentation is completed.
• Maintain accurate trip records, including mileage, fuel consumption, route logs, and any incidents encountered during trips.
• Ensure the security of passengers and goods during transportation, exercising caution at all times to prevent accidents or damage.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations while driving and handling vehicles, demonstrating a strong commitment to workplace safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and passengers in English and Kiswahili to ensure smooth coordination and customer service.
• Participate in driver training, refresher courses, and occupational skill assessments as required to maintain competency and licensing standards.
• Assist in emergency situations, including minor vehicle repairs, accident management, and providing first aid if necessary.
• Perform any other transport-related duties assigned by the Transport Supervisor or University management.
