The ICT Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the organization’s information and communication technology systems. This position supports the ICT team by providing technical assistance, troubleshooting IT issues, and maintaining hardware, software, and network infrastructure. The ICT Assistant will work closely with staff members to resolve technical problems, provide guidance on ICT usage, and ensure that all systems are functioning efficiently and securely. This role is critical in ensuring that the organization’s daily operations are not disrupted by technical failures or network issues. The primary responsibility of the ICT Assistant is to provide first-line support to users by addressing hardware and software issues promptly. This includes troubleshooting computer problems, fixing printer and scanner issues, resolving email and connectivity problems, and assisting staff with application usage. The ICT Assistant must respond to helpdesk requests in a timely manner and ensure that issues are resolved effectively. In addition, the ICT Assistant is responsible for setting up new computers, installing required software, and configuring devices to meet the organization’s standards. They must ensure that all devices are up-to-date with the latest software updates and security patches. In addition to user support, the ICT Assistant is responsible for maintaining the organization’s network systems. Responsibilities
- The ICT Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the organization’s IT systems and infrastructure. Working under the guidance of the ICT Manager or IT Supervisor, the ICT Assistant supports day-to-day ICT activities and helps to resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
- A major responsibility is to provide first-line support to users by troubleshooting common IT problems, including computer hardware faults, software errors, email and connectivity issues, and login challenges. The ICT Assistant must respond promptly to support requests, whether raised through helpdesk tickets, email, or phone calls, and ensure that users receive clear guidance and solutions. This role involves setting up new user accounts, configuring devices, and ensuring that users have the required access to applications and systems. They should also provide basic training to staff on using software applications, printers, and other ICT equipment.
- The ICT Assistant is responsible for maintaining and servicing ICT hardware, including desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices.
