Job Description

An established hospitality organization is seeking to recruit an accomplished Executive Chef to lead its kitchen operations and drive culinary excellence across all food production activities. This position is ideal for an experienced culinary professional with a passion for innovation, operational leadership, quality assurance, and creating memorable dining experiences. The successful candidate will oversee the complete kitchen function while ensuring that every meal served reflects exceptional standards of taste, consistency, presentation, and food safety. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Executive Chef will provide strategic direction for kitchen operations by coordinating menu development, food preparation, procurement planning, inventory control, staff leadership, and financial performance. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for all kitchen operations while ensuring efficient planning, coordination, supervision, and continuous improvement of food production activities.
  • Develop creative menus that reflect current culinary trends, customer expectations, seasonal ingredients, and business profitability objectives.
  • Standardize recipes to achieve consistency in taste, presentation, nutritional value, portion sizes, and production efficiency across every menu item.
  • Prepare detailed food costing analyses and regularly review menu profitability to maintain approved financial targets without compromising product quality.
  • Monitor daily kitchen production schedules to ensure meals are prepared accurately and served within established service timelines.
  • Lead, supervise, motivate, and mentor Sous Chefs, Chef de Parties, Comis Chefs, Pastry Chefs, Cooks, and Kitchen Stewards to maximize productivity.
  • Organize staff duty rosters that support operational efficiency while ensuring adequate staffing during peak and off-peak business periods.
  • Coordinate employee induction, practical skills development, coaching sessions, and succession planning initiatives within the kitchen department.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback that supports continuous professional growth.
  • Ensure strict implementation of HACCP principles, food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and workplace hygiene requirements.
  • Carry out frequent kitchen inspections to verify cleanliness, equipment functionality, food storage practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish preventive maintenance schedules for kitchen equipment and coordinate timely servicing to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Work closely with approved suppliers to source quality ingredients that meet organizational specifications and delivery schedules.
  • Verify incoming food supplies for quality, freshness, quantity, and compliance with purchasing standards before acceptance.
  • Oversee inventory management by implementing accurate stock control procedures, proper storage methods, stock rotation, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Introduce waste reduction initiatives that improve resource utilization and reduce food losses through effective planning and monitoring.
  • Analyze customer feedback, dining trends, and operational reports to recommend improvements that enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with restaurant management to develop promotions, themed dining experiences, banquet menus, and seasonal culinary events.
  • Ensure attractive food presentation that aligns with brand standards and enhances customer dining experiences.
  • Maintain detailed kitchen records, inventory reports, production schedules, supplier documentation, and compliance records.
  • Monitor departmental expenditure and identify opportunities for operational savings without affecting quality standards.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, discipline, and effective communication throughout the culinary department.
  • Resolve operational challenges promptly while maintaining uninterrupted kitchen productivity.
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, procurement planning, and departmental strategic planning activities.
  • Support sustainability initiatives by promoting environmentally responsible food production practices wherever practical.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, occupational safety regulations, and statutory hospitality requirements.
  • Represent the kitchen department professionally during internal meetings, audits, inspections, and management reviews.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging culinary techniques and recommend innovations that strengthen competitive advantage.
  • Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the General Manager in support of organizational objectives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Food Production, Hotel Management, or another closely related discipline obtained from a recognized institution. Applicants holding a Diploma in Culinary Arts or Food Production together with substantial professional experience in large hospitality establishments are also encouraged to apply.
