Key Responsibilities
- Prepare guest rooms to institutional hospitality standards before occupant arrival, ensuring cleanliness, comfort, functionality, and presentation.
- Inspect accommodation units daily to verify that housekeeping standards remain consistently high.
- Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, corridors, reception areas, conference facilities, lounges, and other assigned spaces thoroughly.
- Replace linen, towels, toiletries, and hospitality amenities according to approved operational procedures.
- Report maintenance defects, damaged equipment, plumbing issues, electrical faults, or furniture repairs without delay.
- Maintain attractive room arrangements that enhance guest comfort and institutional image.
- Welcome guests courteously while providing accurate information regarding accommodation facilities and available services.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, enquiries, and service needs.
- Ensure conference venues are arranged according to approved meeting specifications before scheduled events.
- Support hospitality arrangements during seminars, workshops, executive meetings, and official government functions.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for linen, cleaning materials, guest supplies, and hospitality equipment.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment requirements to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Safeguard institutional property by ensuring hospitality equipment is handled responsibly.
- Observe occupational health, environmental hygiene, and workplace safety regulations during all assignments.
- Apply approved sanitation procedures while using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
- Ensure waste is segregated and disposed of according to institutional environmental guidelines.
- Participate in routine inspections aimed at improving hospitality service quality.
- Maintain confidentiality concerning guests, institutional activities, and official engagements.
- Cooperate effectively with catering, maintenance, security, transport, and administration teams.
- Assist in preparing accommodation facilities for VIP visitors and special delegations.
- Ensure emergency exits, safety equipment, and evacuation pathways remain accessible.
- Record completed assignments accurately within departmental reporting systems.
- Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, honesty, and professionalism throughout every work assignment.
- Maintain excellent grooming standards while wearing approved institutional uniforms.
- Promote a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the values of the Kenya School of Government.
- Handle guest concerns politely and escalate unresolved matters appropriately.
- Participate in departmental meetings, service improvement initiatives, and staff development programs.
- Support implementation of quality assurance procedures within hospitality operations.
- Follow institutional policies, regulations, and standard operating procedures consistently.
- Perform any additional hospitality-related responsibilities assigned by authorized supervisors within the scope of the position.
Qualifications & Requirements
- KCSE Mean Grade D (Plain) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Demonstrated merit, integrity, and excellent work performance.
- Strong housekeeping and hospitality operations knowledge.
