Responsibilities for Middle School Life Centered Education (LCE) Teacher in Kenya

• Build and deliver highly individualized learning pathways tailored to students with intellectual and developmental learning differences, ensuring instruction is adapted to each learner’s cognitive, emotional, and functional profile.
• Redesign academic content and classroom tasks into accessible formats that allow students with varying abilities to actively participate and demonstrate progress in meaningful ways.
• Develop, refine, and continuously update Individual Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring each plan reflects realistic developmental milestones, personal goals, and measurable learning outcomes.
• Design structured behavioral guidance frameworks that help students regulate emotions, improve interaction skills, and develop positive learning habits over time.
• Lead transition-focused planning processes that prepare students for greater independence in daily life, school participation, and post-school readiness pathways.
• Work collaboratively with specialists such as therapists, psychologists, speech-language professionals, and counselors to ensure learning support is coordinated and holistic rather than isolated.
• Partner with general education teachers to support meaningful participation of students with diverse learning needs in mainstream classroom environments.
• Establish and maintain a predictable, supportive, and emotionally secure learning environment that encourages student engagement and confidence-building.
• Track student development through ongoing observation, structured assessment methods, and evidence-based progress documentation.
• Prepare clear and consistent communication reports for families, ensuring parents and guardians remain actively informed and engaged in the learning process.
• Facilitate opportunities for students to engage in peer interaction, co-curricular participation, and school-based social experiences that strengthen inclusion.
• Support structured integration of learners into shared classroom and school activities alongside their peers in a way that promotes dignity and participation.
• Guide, mentor, and develop teaching assistants to improve instructional consistency, classroom support quality, and student engagement outcomes.
• Participate actively in professional learning opportunities focused on inclusive education practices, differentiated instruction, and developmental learning strategies.
• Contribute to whole-school initiatives that strengthen learning design, student wellbeing systems, and inclusive education frameworks.
• Uphold safeguarding expectations by ensuring all interactions, learning environments, and student support practices align with child protection standards.
• Encourage learner independence by promoting decision-making skills, self-advocacy, and confidence in personal abilities.
• Maintain close collaboration within multidisciplinary support teams to ensure alignment in student support strategies and intervention planning.
• Supervise and support students during extracurricular activities, school events, and learning experiences that extend beyond classroom instruction.
