Responsibilities for Project Assistant Officer-Component III (Backend Developer) in Kenya

• The officer will participate in comprehensive system testing, debugging, and performance optimization to ensure that all backend modules function efficiently under varying loads. • The Project Assistant Officer-Component III (Backend Developer) will be responsible for the end-to-end development and maintenance of the backend components of the Accreditation Information Management System (AIMS). This includes designing and implementing server-side logic, developing and maintaining databases, and building application programming interfaces (APIs) that ensure efficient and secure communication between AIMS modules and external systems. The officer will participate actively in requirements gathering sessions, translating functional and technical requirements into detailed backend specifications that align with project objectives and organizational standards.
• A critical part of the role involves designing and implementing robust database structures, data models, and optimized queries to ensure data integrity, consistency, and high-performance system operations. The officer will integrate AIMS with internal and external systems, enabling seamless interoperability and reliable data flow across platforms. Adherence to approved coding standards, best practices, and version control procedures is essential to maintain code quality, security, and maintainability.
• Monitoring backend system performance, promptly resolving incidents, and addressing service requests are essential duties to ensure system availability and reliability. The officer will support system enhancement initiatives, participate in change management processes, and assist with system updates, releases, and deployments. Routine preparation of progress reports, technical status updates, and other relevant documentation will provide project leadership with insights into backend development progress, challenges, and achievements.
• Finally, the officer will perform any other duties as assigned by the Component III Coordinator or Project Management, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to achieving the goals of the E-APK Project. The role demands strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality backend solutions that support the operational success of AIMS.
