Responsibilities for Manager Internal Audit in Kenya
- The Manager Internal Audit will be responsible for leading and coordinating all internal audit activities within KENAS to ensure effective governance, accountability, and compliance with established policies and regulations.
- The successful candidate will develop and coordinate the implementation of audit strategies, policies, and procedures that support the Service’s objectives and ensure effective oversight of financial and operational activities. The role will involve preparing and coordinating the implementation of a risk-based annual audit plan in consultation with management and the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Board.
- The Manager Internal Audit will coordinate the execution of audit assignments and ensure the timely preparation and submission of audit reports highlighting findings, risks identified, and recommended corrective actions. The position will also monitor the implementation of audit recommendations arising from both internal and external audits to ensure appropriate remedial measures are taken.
- The role will involve reviewing governance mechanisms to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of financial and physical resources. The successful candidate will coordinate risk-based audits, value-for-money audits, and systems audits to assess operational efficiency and compliance with policies and procedures.
- The Manager Internal Audit will review reports of programs implemented by KENAS to determine whether they align with the organization’s strategic objectives and whether resources are utilized efficiently. The role also includes advising management on potential risks affecting operations and recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
- Additional responsibilities include reviewing the effectiveness of financial and non-financial performance management systems, conducting special audits and investigations when required, and providing consulting services that support management in achieving institutional goals.
- The position will also involve preparing quarterly audit reports for the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Board and providing secretariat services to the committee. The Manager Internal Audit will supervise internal audit staff, ensure departmental targets are achieved, and conduct staff performance appraisals. Furthermore, the role requires liaising with external auditors to facilitate smooth external audit processes and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

- Certificate in Management Course lasting at least six weeks from a recognized institution.
