Responsibilities for Business Systems Support Officer in Kenya

• The Business Systems Support Officer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning and continuous availability of the bank’s business systems and applications. The role requires close monitoring of IT infrastructure, proactive issue resolution, and effective collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
• One of the key responsibilities includes performing End-of-Day (EOD) batch processing for systems that require scheduled batch operations. This includes executing and monitoring batch jobs across various platforms such as the Core Banking System, Clearing System, and Recoveries System to ensure successful completion without errors or delays.
• The officer will also be responsible for maintaining service availability by ensuring that all critical business applications and digital banking channels remain operational. This involves proactive monitoring of servers, applications, and databases, identifying potential issues early, and implementing redundancy or failover mechanisms to minimize downtime.
• Another key duty will be risk management and complete. The officer will support the bank’s risk management framework by ensuring adherence to backup procedures, implementing security controls, and supporting the closure of internal and external audit findings related to IT systems.
• The role will also involve managing service desk operations for business systems. This includes monitoring ticket queues, prioritizing issues based on their urgency and business impact, resolving user requests within agreed service level agreements (SLAs), and escalating complex issues to relevant teams or vendors when necessary.
• Additionally, the Business Systems Support Officer will conduct regular system health checks to assess system performance, identify inefficiencies, and address performance bottlenecks. This proactive approach ensures system stability and improved operational efficiency.
• The officer will also participate in IT project implementation including testing new systems, supporting application upgrades, and assisting in technology deployments across the bank. Effective incident management will be required through proper documentation, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures to reduce recurrence of system issues.
• Finally, the role requires maintaining accurate documentation and reports related to system inventory, incidents, system performance, and operational activities to ensure accountability and proper asset management within the IT environment.
