The NOC Shift Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the stability, performance, and availability of the organization’s ICT and telecommunications infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Network Operations Center (NOC) leadership team, the role plays a critical part in ensuring uninterrupted 24x7 service operations. The engineer will proactively identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system and network incidents in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and internal operational procedures. The successful candidate will continuously monitor enterprise network systems, core banking applications, servers, databases, and telecommunications infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. Using advanced monitoring, alerting, and ticketing tools, the NOC Shift Engineer will detect anomalies, log incidents accurately, perform first-line troubleshooting, escalate complex issues when necessary, and follow through to full resolution and service restoration. The position requires solid technical expertise in routing and switching, WAN and LAN technologies, TCP/IP protocols, MPLS, SD-WAN, VLAN configurations, and fundamental network security principles. In addition to incident management, the role involves collaborating closely with internal ICT teams, service providers, and external vendors to restore services efficiently and prevent recurrence of issues. - The NOC Shift Engineer is responsible for conducting continuous network monitoring and real-time surveillance of the organization’s ICT infrastructure to ensure optimal system availability and performance. - A key responsibility of the role is diagnosing and resolving performance degradation issues across LAN, WAN, MPLS, and SD-WAN environments. The engineer will apply both hardware and software monitoring tools to identify faults, warnings, and potential risks within the infrastructure. Upon detection of incidents, the NOC Shift Engineer is expected to provide first-line resolution in strict adherence to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring minimal downtime and business disruption.
- The role requires accurate logging, updating, and active management of tickets within the designated ticketing system. The engineer must take full ownership of assigned incidents from initiation through resolution and formal closure. Where issues cannot be resolved at first level, timely escalation to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Level 2 or Level 3 support teams, external vendors, or Internet Service Providers (ISPs) must be performed in line with established incident management procedures.
- In addition, the NOC Shift Engineer will generate detailed daily and shift reports outlining incidents handled, root causes identified, corrective actions taken, and overall system performance. Coordination with external service providers is essential to address faults identified during proactive monitoring. The engineer may also validate and troubleshoot provisioning scripts where applicable and support the effective operation of NMS and OSS/BSS tools.
- The role further demands strict compliance with ISO operational controls, audit documentation standards, and internal governance frameworks. The engineer will support service and incident management platforms such as ServiceNow, Remedy, Spectrum, and HP Service Management. Maintaining high service availability, confirming system stability after issue resolution, and effectively operating within a 24/7 shift rotation schedule are fundamental expectations of this position.
