About Trans Nzoia County Government

The Trans Nzoia County Government is one of the 47 devolved units established under the Constitution of Kenya 2010, mandated to provide public services, promote local development, and enhance governance at the county level. Headquartered in Kitale Town, the county government oversees administrative, economic, and social development within Trans Nzoia County, located in the North Rift region of Kenya.
The county government is guided by its mission to facilitate transformative development, efficient service delivery, and good governance, while its vision is to become a leading agro-industrialized county with a high quality of life for its residents.
Trans Nzoia County is widely known as the “breadbasket of Kenya” due to its fertile soils and strong agricultural base, particularly in large-scale maize production, dairy farming, and horticulture. The county government plays a key role in supporting these sectors through policy formulation, infrastructure development, and investment promotion.
The government operates through various departments including health, agriculture, education, infrastructure, trade, and public administration, ensuring delivery of essential services such as healthcare, education support, water provision, and local economic development. It also works collaboratively with national government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and development partners to drive sustainable growth.
With a diverse population and strategic location bordering Uganda, the Trans Nzoia County Government continues to position the county as a regional hub for agriculture, trade, and investment, while improving the welfare and livelihoods of its residents.
