Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive risk-based audit plans that align with organizational objectives and regulatory expectations.
- Execute operational, financial, compliance, and information systems audits according to approved audit schedules.
- Evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability of internal control systems across various departments.
- Examine accounting records, financial transactions, and operational activities to verify compliance with established policies.
- Identify control weaknesses, operational gaps, and emerging risks that may affect organizational performance.
- Prepare detailed working papers that accurately document audit procedures, evidence collected, and professional conclusions.
- Produce clear, balanced, and actionable audit reports supported by factual observations and practical recommendations.
- Present audit findings professionally to departmental management and senior leadership.
- Monitor implementation of agreed audit recommendations and verify completion of corrective actions.
- Review existing policies and procedures to ensure they remain effective, practical, and aligned with changing business requirements.
- Assess new products, digital solutions, operational processes, and strategic initiatives before implementation to identify potential control risks.
- Participate in enterprise risk assessment exercises and contribute valuable insights for improving governance.
- Conduct special investigations involving suspected fraud, financial irregularities, policy violations, or operational concerns while maintaining confidentiality.
- Analyse large volumes of financial and operational information using modern audit techniques and analytical tools.
- Verify compliance with banking regulations, internal policies, statutory obligations, and professional auditing standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending practical measures that enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with external auditors, regulators, and business stakeholders during audit engagements whenever required.
- Maintain complete, organized, and secure audit documentation in accordance with professional standards.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance reviews to promote consistency and excellence in audit execution.
- Keep abreast of evolving regulatory requirements, emerging business risks, cybersecurity developments, and industry best practices.
- Promote a strong culture of ethics, accountability, transparency, and responsible risk management throughout the organization.
- Assist management by providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of governance structures and business processes.
- Perform data validation procedures to ensure financial and operational reports are complete and accurate.
- Evaluate business continuity, operational resilience, and disaster recovery controls where applicable.
- Contribute to continuous enhancement of audit methodologies through innovation, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
- Build productive working relationships across departments while maintaining complete independence and objectivity.
- Perform any additional internal audit assignments that support organizational objectives and strengthen the overall control environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, or another closely related discipline from a recognized institution. Applicants should have successfully completed CPA Part II or higher, while professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), ACCA, or equivalent qualifications will provide an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of risk management principles, internal control frameworks, financial reporting standards, corporate governance practices, and regulatory compliance requirements within the financial services sector. - solving skills are essential for evaluating complex operational environments and developing practical recommendations. Applicants should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills together with the ability to prepare professional audit reports for diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, audit software, electronic working paper systems, and data analysis tools will be highly desirable.
