Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of market research programmes that support strategic capital market development objectives.
- Supervise data collection activities to ensure information is accurate, complete, timely, and aligned with organizational analytical requirements.
- Coordinate the validation, verification, storage, updating, and management of market databases while maintaining strict data governance standards.
- Ensure confidentiality, integrity, availability, and controlled access to research datasets and institutional information resources.
- Prepare comprehensive statistical bulletins, market performance reports, economic briefs, analytical publications, and periodic industry updates.
- Conduct advanced research covering capital market products, investment trends, financial innovations, trading activities, market infrastructure, and regulatory developments.
- Develop evidence-based recommendations that support regulatory reforms, policy formulation, and market development initiatives.
- Identify emerging domestic, regional, and international market trends affecting Kenya's capital markets.
- Evaluate new investment products and financial innovations to determine their potential impact on market growth and investor participation.
- Support preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of departmental work plans, operational targets, and budget activities.
- Recommend improvements in research methodologies, statistical modelling techniques, and data management practices.
- Supervise collection and comparative analysis of regional and international capital market statistics from East African Community member states and other global markets.
- Produce high-quality presentations for management, technical committees, regulators, and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate stakeholder forums, consultative meetings, technical workshops, and knowledge-sharing engagements.
- Respond professionally to research enquiries relating to capital markets, financial systems, investment trends, and economic developments.
- Collaborate with internal departments to strengthen evidence-driven planning and institutional decision-making.
- Mentor junior officers by providing technical guidance, performance coaching, and quality assurance throughout research assignments.
- Monitor emerging risks, identify analytical gaps, and recommend improvements that enhance research capability across the Authority.
- Build productive working relationships with financial institutions, government agencies, academia, development partners, and industry participants.
- Perform additional research and market development assignments as may be required to support the Authority's strategic objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Accounting, Public Policy, Actuarial Science, Business, Finance, Financial Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or another relevant discipline from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Management Course lasting at least four weeks from a recognized institution.
- Membership in a relevant professional body such as ICIFA, ICPAK, Economic Society of Kenya, or TASK where applicable.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications and analytical software.
