Key Responsibilities
- Review prescriptions to ensure completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness before dispensing medications.
- Dispense medicines and pharmaceutical products in accordance with professional standards and approved procedures.
- Provide clear medication counseling to patients regarding dosage, administration, storage, and possible side effects.
- Verify patient information and maintain confidentiality throughout all pharmaceutical processes.
- Monitor medication utilization and support rational use of medicines within the facility.
- Maintain accurate dispensing records and pharmaceutical documentation.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and handling of pharmaceutical products.
- Monitor stock availability and initiate replenishment processes when necessary.
- Participate in inventory control activities to minimize stock losses and wastage.
- Receive, inspect, and record pharmaceutical supplies delivered to the facility.
- Ensure medicines are stored under appropriate environmental and security conditions.
- Conduct routine stock counts and reconcile inventory records.
- Monitor expiry dates and coordinate safe disposal of expired or damaged products.
- Support procurement planning through preparation of stock consumption reports.
- Maintain compliance with Pharmacy and Poisons Board regulations and professional requirements.
- Participate in implementation of medication safety initiatives and quality improvement programs.
- Support pharmacovigilance activities through documentation and reporting of adverse drug reactions.
- Collaborate with clinicians and nursing teams regarding medication-related matters.
- Utilize Health Management Information Systems for pharmacy documentation and reporting.
- Prepare pharmaceutical reports and inventory summaries as required.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the pharmacy unit.
- Support internal audits and regulatory inspections affecting pharmacy services.
- Promote patient education initiatives related to medication adherence and treatment outcomes.
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain current pharmaceutical knowledge.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention, workplace safety, and healthcare quality standards.
