Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed lesson plans that support the delivery of high-quality maritime security training programmes.
- Deliver professional classroom instruction using learner-centred teaching methodologies and practical demonstrations.
- Facilitate hands-on training sessions that improve operational competence and workplace readiness.
- Train participants on maritime security principles, international regulations, and recognized industry standards.
- Conduct instruction covering ship security operations, port facility protection, vessel access control, cargo security, and emergency preparedness.
- Deliver practical guidance on the implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
- Teach relevant Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) security requirements applicable to maritime personnel.
- Develop comprehensive training materials, presentations, learner manuals, practical exercises, and assessment tools.
- Evaluate trainee knowledge through written examinations, practical assessments, simulations, assignments, and continuous evaluation methods.
- Provide timely, objective, and constructive feedback that promotes continuous learner improvement.
- Maintain accurate attendance registers, assessment records, performance reports, and training documentation.
- Ensure all training activities comply with institutional quality assurance procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Organize realistic emergency response drills and maritime security simulation exercises.
- Demonstrate effective risk identification, threat analysis, vulnerability assessment, and mitigation techniques.
- Guide learners in applying internationally accepted maritime security procedures in operational environments.
- Promote safe learning practices throughout classroom, laboratory, and field training activities.
- Support curriculum review initiatives by recommending improvements based on emerging industry developments.
- Integrate current maritime security technologies, operational trends, and global best practices into training sessions.
- Collaborate with academic staff, industry partners, and regulatory stakeholders to enhance programme quality.
- Participate in professional meetings, workshops, and academic activities organized by the Maritime Academy.
- Mentor trainees on professional ethics, discipline, leadership, teamwork, and responsible decision-making.
- Encourage critical thinking and practical problem-solving during learning activities.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling trainee information, institutional records, and assessment results.
- Ensure learning resources, equipment, and instructional facilities are properly utilized and maintained.
- Promote compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental protection, and institutional policies.
- Continuously update professional knowledge through industry research, certification renewal, and professional development.
- Represent the university professionally during training engagements and stakeholder interactions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at strengthening programme effectiveness and learner satisfaction.
- Assist in identifying industry training needs that can support future professional development programmes.
- Perform any other training-related responsibilities assigned by the Centre for Professional Development Services in support of institutional objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Security Studies, Marine Operations, Nautical Science, or another closely related discipline.
- Valid maritime security training certification.
- Recognized STCW certification relevant to maritime security.
- ISPS Code training certification.
- Relevant IMO maritime security certification will be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of international maritime conventions and regulations.
- Excellent instructional and facilitation skills.
- Ability to prepare professional training materials and assessments.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Strong report writing and documentation abilities.
- Excellent classroom management skills.
- Practical knowledge of maritime risk assessment.
- Competence in emergency preparedness and response procedures.
- Ability to deliver practical demonstrations and simulations.
- Good analytical and problem
