Job Description

KPMG East Africa is seeking an accomplished Finance and Accounting Transformation Manager to join its Advisory practice in Nairobi, Kenya. This position presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who is passionate about helping organizations strengthen their finance functions, improve operational efficiency, and embrace modern technologies that support sustainable business growth. The successful candidate will work alongside senior executives, finance leaders, and multidisciplinary consulting teams to deliver strategic solutions that enable organizations to adapt to changing business environments and regulatory expectations. The Finance and Accounting Transformation Manager will oversee the planning and execution of complex advisory engagements involving finance operating model redesign, financial reporting enhancement, enterprise resource planning (ERP) transformation, process optimization, governance improvement, and technology-enabled finance initiatives. The role requires an individual who combines technical accounting expertise with strong commercial awareness, project leadership capability, and the ability to build trusted client relationships across diverse industries. Working with some of the region's leading public and private sector organizations, the successful candidate will support finance transformation initiatives from strategy development through implementation. This includes identifying operational improvement opportunities, evaluating finance processes, recommending practical solutions, and ensuring successful execution of transformation programs that deliver measurable business value. The manager will also contribute to initiatives involving digital finance, intelligent automation, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence applications, integrated reporting, and regulatory compliance. Beyond project delivery, the role involves supporting business development activities by preparing compelling proposals, participating in client meetings, identifying new engagement opportunities, and collaborating with colleagues across multiple service lines to deliver integrated advisory solutions. The successful individual will be expected to contribute to the continued growth of the Finance and Accounting Advisory practice by maintaining exceptional client service standards and developing long-term professional relationships. Leadership forms a central part of this position. The Finance and Accounting Transformation Manager will coach consultants, review project deliverables, promote knowledge sharing, and help build a high-performing team culture focused on collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous professional development. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead finance transformation projects from initial assessment through implementation and post-deployment support.
  • Manage enterprise-wide finance modernization initiatives that improve operational performance and reporting quality.
  • Evaluate existing finance processes and recommend practical improvements that enhance efficiency and internal controls.
  • Guide ERP implementation and optimization projects involving leading enterprise financial systems.
  • Support finance operating model redesign aligned with organizational strategy and future business requirements.
  • Develop transformation roadmaps with measurable objectives, milestones, and performance indicators.
  • Provide technical guidance on financial reporting standards, governance, and compliance requirements.
  • Advise clients on budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance management improvements.
  • Deliver finance process automation initiatives that reduce manual effort and increase productivity.
  • Promote the adoption of digital finance technologies, intelligent automation, and AI-enabled finance capabilities.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams while ensuring timely delivery of client engagements.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and overall engagement profitability.
  • Facilitate executive workshops, stakeholder meetings, and transformation planning sessions.
  • Prepare detailed reports, executive presentations, and strategic recommendations for senior management.
  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies throughout project lifecycles.
  • Build trusted relationships with Chief Financial Officers, Finance Directors, Controllers, and executive leadership teams.
  • Support strategic transactions by providing finance readiness and reporting advisory services.
  • Contribute to IPO readiness, business restructuring, and finance integration initiatives where applicable.
  • Collaborate with specialists from tax, audit, risk, technology, and consulting teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Review engagement deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with professional standards.
  • Mentor consultants and senior associates through coaching, performance feedback, and technical guidance.
  • Promote continuous learning by sharing industry knowledge, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Participate in proposal development, pricing discussions, and client presentations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through additional advisory services.
  • Assist with market research to identify emerging finance transformation trends and client needs.
  • Maintain complete engagement documentation in accordance with internal quality management procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Encourage innovation by introducing practical solutions that improve finance operations and business performance.
  • Support organizational change management activities that facilitate successful transformation adoption.
  • Contribute to the continued growth, reputation, and success of KPMG East Africa's Finance Advisory practice.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • CPA, ACCA, Chartered Accountant, or an equivalent internationally recognized professional accounting qualification.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in finance transformation methodologies.
  • Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud ERP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or comparable systems.
  • Strong analytical, financial modelling, and business problem
