Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental examinations to evaluate oral health conditions and identify appropriate treatment requirements.
- Diagnose dental diseases, oral infections, gum disorders, and abnormalities using established clinical procedures.
- Develop individualized treatment plans that address both immediate and long-term oral healthcare needs.
- Carry out restorative dental procedures including fillings, minor extractions, and other approved treatments within scope of practice.
- Deliver preventive dental services such as scaling, polishing, fluoride applications, and oral health screenings.
- Educate patients on effective oral hygiene practices, nutrition, and preventive care measures that support healthy teeth and gums.
- Explain treatment options, expected outcomes, benefits, and potential risks in a clear and understandable manner.
- Respond promptly and professionally to dental emergencies while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential patient records using approved Health Management Information Systems.
- Comply fully with infection prevention, sterilization, and clinical safety protocols throughout all procedures.
- Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and safe use of dental instruments and clinical equipment.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives aimed at improving clinical standards and patient satisfaction.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate comprehensive patient management where necessary.
- Monitor patient recovery following dental procedures and provide appropriate follow-up care recommendations.
- Refer complex cases requiring specialized treatment to relevant dental specialists in a timely manner.
- Maintain compliance with Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council regulations and professional ethical standards.
- Participate in continuous medical education, professional training, and competency development activities.
- Assist in promoting community oral health awareness through education and preventive health initiatives.
- Prepare accurate clinical reports and other documentation required by organizational and regulatory guidelines.
- Contribute positively to a respectful, patient-centered, and collaborative healthcare environment while supporting the organization's mission of delivering quality healthcare services.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in dental surgery from a recognized university.
- Valid registration and current practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
- Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
